China urges Japan to reflect on history of aggression

The Japanese House of Representatives has recently passed the budget bill for 2024 including the largest-ever military budget with a year-on-year increase of billions of dollars.

In this regard, a spokesman for the Chinese Defence Ministry said in a press conference on March 15 that the military tendency of Japan has always been a great concern of the neighbouring countries in Asia and the international community owing to the modern history of aggression of Japanese militarism.

In recent years, Japan has altered its security policy greatly, increased the military budget every year and loosened the restrictions on arms export constantly in a bid to achieve radical military development, he said. 

China strongly urges Japan to fully respect security concerns of neighbouring countries, seriously reflect on its history of aggression and take a path of peaceful development, he noted.
